Sara Sha California Contemporary Artist
Biography
My name is Sara Sha and I am a local artist. I started drawing and painting at a very young age. I now live in Capitola.
I love nature. The clouds, sunsets, waves and flowers are so beautiful and I enjoy painting them. All the beauty that surrounds us, inspires me to paint.
Mexican culture and folk art are big influences in my art. I was born in Mexico and would visit every year growing up. I love the bright colors, Virgen Mary Sculptures and paintings, Day of the Dead and Sacred Hearts. I love hearts. You may have noticed my signiture on my paintings.
Vincent Van Gough was a artist that inspires me. I love his swirls. His straightforward style and bold lines in his painting of his room. You can see his influences in my older work.
Pablo Picasso was another artist that inspires me. At first I didn't like his work, now I love it. His art is so interesting. That is what I strive to do. I don't want to be boring.
Maggie Renner Hellman is a local artist that inspires me. She does amazing land and seascapes. She keeps her paintings simple and they turn out great. She showed me that I don't need to spend countless hours on detail. I love her use of color.
Noah Gould is a local artist and my teacher. He has showed me how to mix colors and blend. How to bring in highlights and emphasize contrast. I have worked with Noah for over a year, mostly on portraits. I highly recommend him.
My medium of choice are oil paints. I love the texture. So thick and smooth. Great for blending.
I enjoy painting in 'Plein Air'. I also spend time in my studio, working on a number of series.
Some series include:
Seascapes, Waves, Landscapes, Still life Flowers, and Day of the Dead.
Some future series I am exited to creat are a Mermaid series and a virgen Mary Series.
I will keep you updated on current and future shows.
Thanks for visiting my website.
Sara
